In 2016 I was part of the Craft Victoria Writing Program in Melbourne, Australia. As part of the program I developed the essay ‘The elusive pull of objects’ in collaboration with Craft Victoria. The essay explored the mysterious appeal of objects and the way in which an object’s journey impacts us. As researcher Louise Green comments, ‘the relation of ownership that masquerades as a relationship between a person and object is, in actual fact, a relationship between people’ (Green 2008: 176).
In addition I presented at Craft Victoria’s ‘Craft and Design as a Career’ at Deakin Edge in Melbourne on 22 August 2016. The presentation explored ways of writing about art, drawing from my experience as an art writer for Art Radar and other journals.
