Waiting (2020)

Made during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns from Barcelona, this videopoem evokes a sense of the daily world reducing to just four walls.

Made during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns from Barcelona, this videopoem evokes a sense of the daily world reducing to just four walls.

The challenges of social and physical isolation has disrupted our daily lives, drawing attention to our inside spaces as we’re cut off from the outside. The three videopoems, made during isolation in Barcelona, explore topics of waiting for the disturbance to settle, the change in environmental sounds due to the retreat of people, and the sense of claustrophobia in the domestic space.

When confronted by change there are so many unknowns – how long will it take? What will life look like on the other side? It takes time to adjust, time to know exactly how big the impact will be. We might see change coming like a wave and brace for it, but sometimes there is nothing we can do but wait and try to adapt in the aftermath.
